Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Processing Specialist to support a public health program focused on disease surveillance. This role involves accurate data entry, validation, and maintenance of health-related data systems to ensure high-quality reporting and compliance with established guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, experience with data systems, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and enter laboratory and case data into surveillance systems
  • Review and manage assigned data queues and records
  • Apply standard case definitions to determine case status
  • Identify and categorize case types (e.g., acute, reinfection, perinatal, etc.)
  • Perform data cleaning, validation, and quality assurance checks
  • Process paper-based and electronic records, including incomplete or unmatched reports
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies
  • Coordinate medical record requests as needed
  • Communicate data issues and findings to internal stakeholders
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and program activities

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in data entry, data processing, or working with data systems
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow structured processes and meet quality standards
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in healthcare, medical records, or public health
  • Experience working with surveillance or reporting systems
  • Familiarity with data validation and quality assurance processes
