Senior Estimator – Milling & Paving

Location: Palmer, MA

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: $100,000 – $125,000

About the Role

A well-established construction materials and infrastructure services organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead and oversee the estimating function across a range of large-scale road construction and paving projects.

This organisation operates across multiple sites, delivering high-quality materials and services to public and private sector clients, with a strong focus on safety, sustainability, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and mentor a team of estimators to deliver accurate and competitive bids
• Review project plans and specifications to define scope and prepare estimates
• Produce detailed cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and supporting documentation
• Conduct market analysis and review historical project data to inform pricing
• Assign estimating responsibilities across multiple projects
• Identify project risks and assess potential cost impacts
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure accuracy
• Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors
• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids for competitiveness and compliance
• Ensure familiarity and compliance with relevant Department of Transportation specifications

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in asphalt paving or heavy highway construction estimating
• Proven track record estimating projects valued between $5M and $25M
• Strong proficiency in estimating software (e.g., B2W) and Microsoft Office tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Legal authorisation to work in the United States

Additional Information

• Travel up to 20% across regional offices and project sites may be required
• Combination of office-based work and site visits
• Role involves standard office tasks alongside field-based activities
